The mission has made a commitment to start churches in all 19 of the department capitols of Nicaragua. Currently five have established congregations and two more with groups that are meeting with the hope of starting a church. These cities are the administrative centers of their districts. This strategy conforms to the missionary plan of the Apostle Paul who spent much time in the principle cities of his day.
We also recognize that Nicaragua is unusual in the world today in that still one half of its population is rural. Therefore we do not want to turn our back on open doors for church planting in rural communities. This year we have been led to start a church in the rural community of San Jose in the Chontales district. This community is small but strategic in its own way. Since the dirt road ends there it is the passenger and freight terminal for several surrounding counties. Long time resident of that community, Camillo Morales is serving as the Evangelist there. He is a mature Christian man seeking to serve the Lord and we are pleased that we have been put in contact with him by the eldership of the church in Managua.
Currently we are in the process of surveying the cities of Juigalpa and San Carlos for new church work. We pray the Lord will open doors for the work and lead us to those who can play vital roles the beginning of new congregations.
