New Land!!

Vocational students work on new school site. San Benito
|
The big news as we close out the year is the acquisition of two new pieces of land.
For most of this year we have been searching for property in the San Benito area.
The current government is tacitly allowing people to settle in a several square mile
track of land that once was a sugar cane plantation.
Thousands of poor families are coming to build shacks there so in a few
months a shack city has sprung up with no water, electricity or other services.
For ministry this is a real ground floor opportunity to be present as the community forms.
We hope long term to be very active in the area with church planting and education.
Also the time has come to establish a permanent base of operations to support present and future outreach.
We also had the opportunity to purchase a larger parcel nearby.
It is 13 acres and long term will give our work a place to build housing for volunteers, a permanent
vocational shop and a warehouse.
For now our priorities are fencing, water and electricity on the site.
A big thank you to God for making it possible to put our feet on the ground in this area.
